Our Global Footprint is Growing

PILAglobal addresses global displacement and poverty with launch of 5 new Nests

Violence, climate change, increasing poverty and the COVID-19 pandemic have worsened already dire conditions for displaced people globally. According to WorldVision, an estimated one in 97 people in the world are forcibly displaced, many of whom are children.

Founded on the belief that all children, regardless of economic or geographic considerations, are entitled to an education, PILAglobal is committed to expanding its Nests - safe and engaging places where children can learn, play and grow - to reach more communities impacted by poverty and displacement. Through local and international partnerships as well as your support, PILAglobal has focused its efforts on adding additional Nests in Mexico, Democratic Republic of Congo and Greece, and establishing a first Nest in Zimbabwe.

NEST NORTE (April 2021)

A peaceful, child-centered space where 2- to 7-year-old children can relax and play while their parents seek legal counsel at Al Otro Lado, an NGO located near the San Ysidro Port of Entry in Tijuana, Mexico.

NEST CENTRITO 32 (May 2021)

A mobile unit that serves infants, toddlers, and their parents in shelters across Tijuana. In partnership with UNICEF and Centro 32, we offer opportunities for babies and toddlers to play with their parents in the safety of a retrofitted school bus designed specifically for young children.

NEST ATHENS (May 2021)

In partnership with two NGO's: Carry the Future and Action for Education, Nest Athens is a trauma-informed early education environment for young refugee children in Athens, Greece.

In partnership with I AM Zimbabwe Trust, a local NGO, PILAglobal is opening a beautiful learning space for 3-5-year-old orphans and vulnerable children who live in Harare, Zimbabwe.

NEST CONGO III (August 2021)

In partnership with The Congo Peace School, PILAglobal is opening a third classroom for preschool-aged children in Mumosho, Democratic Republic of Congo.
